As repairs continue to the sinkhole on County Road 2330 (Chisum Road), Lubbock County has now extended the closure of CR 2330 past the entrances to the LCMS stadium parking lot. This means that traffic can no longer be routed through the parking lot to avoid the road closure. This directly impacts any individuals driving to or from the LCMS or South Elementary campuses.
We have included a map outlining multiple routes to/from LCMS (orange arrows) and to/from South Elementary (blue arrows).
To enter the north (back) side of the LCMS campus, turn south at the four-way stop on Woodrow Road onto CR 2330. You will then be forced to turn east (left) onto the one-way road that runs along the north (back) side of the LCMS campus. You will exit onto Loop 493.
To enter the south (front) side of the LCMS campus, travel south on Loop 493. Turn west (right) into the main LCMS campus entrance, then ease right onto the front drive of the LCMS campus. Exit by continuing along the front drive and turning east (left) onto the four-lane boulevard. Exit onto Loop 493. (You may also continue west along the front drive and exit traveling south on CR 2330 - know that exiting south on CR 2330 may include unpaved roads.)
To enter the north (front) side of the South Elementary campus FROM LOOP 493, travel south on Loop 493. Turn west (right) into the main LCMS campus entrance, then continue west on the four-lane boulevard. Turn south (left) just before reaching the LCMS tennis courts and follow the lane to the front side of South Elementary. Exit onto Loop 493.
To enter the north (front) side of the South Elementary campus FROM CR 2330, travel north on CR 2330. Turn east (right) onto the four-lane boulevard just north of the Ag Barn. Turn south (right) just past the LCMS tennis courts and follow the lane to the front side of South Elementary. Exit onto Loop 493.
To enter the south (back) side of the South Elementary campus FROM LOOP 493, travel south on Loop 493. Turn west (right) into the main LCMS campus entrance, then continue west on the four-lane boulevard to CR 2330. Turn south (left) on CR 2330. Turn east (left) on the South Elementary south drive. Circle around to the south entrance of South Elementary. Continue back onto CR 2330. Turn north (right) to exit on Loop 493 via the four-lane boulevard OR turn south (left) to exit on CR 2330 (exiting south on CR 2330 may include unpaved roads).
To enter the south (back) side of the South Elementary campus FROM CR 2330, travel north on CR 2330. Turn east (left) on the South Elementary south drive. Circle around to the south entrance of South Elementary. Continue back onto CR 2330. Turn north (right) to exit on Loop 493 via the four-lane boulevard OR turn south (left) to exit on CR 2330 (this route may include unpaved roads).
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this unanticipated road closure.

This week’s weather conditions have caused a substantial sinkhole on County Road 2330 (Chisum Road), the north-south road on the west side of the Lubbock-Cooper Middle School football stadium.
A crew has been dispatched to repair the sinkhole, and they have completely blocked off CR 2330 where the sinkhole is located. Traffic cannot pass around the barricaded area.
This closure will impact anyone traveling to or from LCMS or South Elementary. While the area is barricaded, north- and south-bound traffic will be re-routed from CR 2330 through the LCMS football stadium parking lot (west of the LCMS football stadium) to avoid the barricaded area, and then returned to CR 2330. See the map of CR 2330 below to view the temporary travel route (yellow arrows indicate southbound traffic, blue arrows indicate northbound traffic).
We have not been given a timeline for the repair of the sinkhole, so we do not know how long traffic will be re-routed. Please drive carefully and pay attention to barricades, cones, and any other traffic signs.
Lubbock-Cooper ISD will start ON TIME today, Thursday, February 2, with buses running all routes as usual.
Although roadways in the district are currently clear, forecasts predict deteriorating weather conditions throughout the day. Out of an abundance of caution, Lubbock-Cooper ISD has canceled school today, Wednesday, February 1.
Stay safe and warm, LCP family!
