NURSES CLINIC

Effective with the start of the 2024-25 school year, Lubbock-Cooper ISD will require a doctor’s order for all medications administered through the nurse’s clinic. This includes prescription medications, PRN (as needed) medications, and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students, please note the following:

  1. Doctor’s Order Required:  A completed Medication Order and Clarification Form must accompany each medication your child needs to take during school hours. This form must be signed by a licensed physician.

  2. Form Submission:  The Medication Order and Clarification Form is linked in and attached to this email, can be found on the district website, or can be picked up from your campus nurse.

  3. Medication Delivery:  Medications, along with the completed form, must be delivered to the nurse’s clinic by a parent or guardian. Students are not permitted to bring medications to school.

  4. Parent Administration:  A parent or emergency contact is welcome to come to the school and administer medication when the student needs it during the school day.

Please note:  Lubbock-Cooper ISD has standing physician's orders to administer emergency, life-saving medications. The administration of these medications is not impacted by the updated protocols listed here.

Please prioritize obtaining the necessary documentation to avoid any interruptions in your child’s medication regimen during school hours. We understand that this change may require some adjustments, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we comply with these updated regulations.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Kristy Rose, MSN, R.N.
