On Friday, September 17, the Pirate varsity football team will host the Monterey Plainsmen at 7:00 p.m. at Pirate Stadium at First United Park. As a Pirate Family, we are uniting with the Monterey community to white out Pirate Stadium in memory of Lataiya White, mother of a Lubbock-Cooper High School student and a Monterey High School varsity football player. Mrs. White passed away earlier this week. Pirate fans, please wear white to Friday night's game (and spread the word) to show your support for this family!

"Why don't they teach that in school?" We do! Did you know that Lubbock-Cooper High School offers Adulting 101/102 to juniors and seniors? Designed around student requests, this class teaches students lessons that will help them succeed after they graduate and move out on their own. Topics include grocery shopping within a budget, basic sewing and cooking skills, changing flat tires, opening bank accounts, asking for raises, and the basics of insurance, credit, and taxes, - plus much more! Industry experts in various fields will visit with students throughout the year, and students will participate in hands-on, "real world" lessons!

Dr. Felix Morales from Texas Tech University Health Science Center brought a team to LCHS to visit with junior and seniors interested in pursuing careers in the medical field. They panel spoke about the early assurance programs into Texas Tech's medical program, and LCHS alumni Keegan Dunn and Lauren Irish, both recently accepted into TTUHSC Medical School, answered questions and shared their experiences.

Reminder: Monday, September 6 is a staff and student holiday for Lubbock-Cooper ISD.

Chick-fil-A and school supplies - two of our favorite things! Receive a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich when you donate new and unopened school supplies to benefit our Pirate Pantries, now through August 28!

Fish Day is Tuesday, August 3 9a-12p. Students will need to be dropped off and picked up at the front doors of the Performing Arts Center on the LCHS campus. Students must be in dress code from the chest up and have completed the Online Verification of Enrollment in order to receive a class schedule. Looking forward to meeting your child on Tuesday!

SCHEDULE PICK-UP DATES/TIMES: Seniors only - Wednesday, August 4; 2-4pm Seniors and Juniors only - Wednesday, August 4; 4-6pm, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors - Thursday, August 5; 2-6pm Students must be in dress code from the chest up and have completed the Online Verification of Enrollment in order to receive a class schedule. Students will enter the building from the CTE wing on the north side of campus. Looking forward to seeing your child this week!

It's a big night for some special Lady Pirates! Malloree Smith (softball) and Catalina Cortez (basketball) will be playing in tonight's Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star games, while Bailee Broadus and Kellen Kotara (cheerleading) cheer in tonight's TGCA All-Star Cheer Performance during the basketball game! We are so proud of these talented students!

As we transition to the new student email address/login format, it is possible that students or parents may be seeing class assignments or schedules for the 2021-22 school year on various platforms frequently used by students. Please know that all scheduling is currently in draft mode. Schedules and class assignments are incomplete and not finalized, and anything a student or parent may come across regarding scheduling or class assignments is not guaranteed and is possibly inaccurate. When schedules and class assignments are finalized, you will be notified by your child's campus.

Lubbock-Cooper ISD is seeking stakeholder input as the district develops a plan to utilize the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) Funds that will address student learning loss, learning recovery, and lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your input is desired and will be critical to the application process for ESSER III funding. Please complete the district's ESSER III survey the district website.
