Mr. Henderson has served as Superintendent of Lubbock-Cooper ISD for the past 14 years. As the Chief Executive Officer and educational leader of LCISD,
Mr. Henderson assumes admininstrative responsibility for the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the educational programs, services, facilities, and administrative staff.
Mr. Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas Tech University in 1979 and a Master of Education Degree from Texas Tech University in 1989. He taught and coached at Levelland ISD, was the Assistant Principal at Lamesa High School, and was Principal and Athletic Director at Meadow ISD. In 1992, Mr. Henderson was selected as Principal of Lubbock-Cooper High School. In 1995, he was appointed Superintendent of Schools for LCISD. Mr. Henderson was selected as the Region 17 "Superintendent of the Year" in 1999 and in 2002. Also, in 2002, he was selected as a state finalist for "Texas Superintendent of the Year."
Mr. Henderson is married to Jo Ellen, the Director of Public Information for LCISD. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1972 to 1975 on the Destroyer Escort, USS Whipple, during the Vietnam War.
