Pat Henderson, Superintendent
Dear Parent:
As you know, the 2006 facilities bond issue passed by the district’s voters included funds to construct a third elementary campus. This new campus, West Elementary, will open for the 2008-09 school year. At their regular meeting on February 21, the LCISD Board of Trustees approved attendance zones for the district’s three elementary campuses. These attendance zones are illustrated on the map included with this letter. The green area represents the West Elementary attendance zone, the blue area represents the North Elementary attendance zone, and the yellow area represents the South Elementary attendance zone. As a general rule, children will attend the elementary campus located within their attendance zone. There are some exceptions to this general rule that are listed below:
1. Fourth graders residing in the West Elementary zone, who are currently attending North Elementary, will be given the option of staying at North Elementary for their fifth grade year.
2. Students residing in either the West or North Elementary attendance zones, but are currently attending South Elementary, will be given the option of continuing to attend South Elementary.
3. Students residing in the South Elementary attendance zone, who have been granted intra-district transfers to attend North Elementary, will be allowed to continue attending that campus.
Letters have been sent to all parents living in either the West Elementary or the North Elementary attendance zones indicating which campus their children will attend. Parents living in the South Elementary attendance zone who have not requested an intra-district transfer to either North or West Elementary will not be sent a letter as their children will continue to attend South Elementary.
Sincerely, Pat Henderson
Superintendent
